Brooklyn Flea: Fort Greene

Last Saturday afternoon we went to the charming  Brooklyn Flea market in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. There were food stalls, vintage clothes and furniture, and pretty hand crafted items. I was in heaven!

I will be back the minute we get settled in an apartment.

I mean every home needs a pink elephant with an umbrella?

Inspiration: The Satorialist

I have followed The Satorialist (Scott Schuman) for years. I love his eye,  the romantic slightly old-fashioned way that he sees people and the way that this comes across in his photographs. I came across this interview today and found it really inspiring. It made me feel so excited to be living and working in New York!

Wednesday Inspiration: The Artichoke Head

I took this photograph when I was staying with my parents in England. My Dad grew the artichoke in his garden and I thought it made the most beautiful object. The colours are so amazing! I could design a whole room using them. I wish it was possible to keep the Artichoke in this state but alas we had to eat it in the end.

Inspiration: Gypsya

I have been looking for a few things to liven up our bedroom here in New York and came across the beautiful Etsy shop Gypsya. I love everything but, here is a selection of my favourite things:

Grey Ikat Quilt $128. I love this Ikat because it is elegant and subtle. Ikats tend to be more colourful.

I also love this Green Quilt $149. The pattern is beautiful!

I wouldn’t mind a couple of these cushions and the place mats below.

This shop makes me want to learn to Sew!

New York, New York!

Hello there….

Once again it has been a while since I last posted. I have a good reason though! This is that my husband and I have been busy organising our move to the big apple. We arrived in sunny New York on Sunday and are staying with friends until we get settled. I can’t wait to start exploring the city and posting all of my design related discoveries.

Inspiration: Garance Dore

I am sure most people know Garance Dore by now. I love her blog and have followed it for years, since back in the day when she was based in Paris. Her illustrations are gorgeous as is she!

If you want to see more check out the series of videos that she made called ‘Pardon my French‘. I find her utterly charming.

Nikki Anne Stark Jewellery

Earlier in the week I met up with my friend Nikki Anne Stark. She makes beautiful jewellery. I was admiring the necklace she was wearing which was one of her Anastasia pendants.

Soooo pretty and such a satisfying organic shape! I ended up buying one for myself.

If you want to check out the rest of her jewellery visit her website.  She will also be at Spitalfield market in East London this Saturday.
